Can I keep African dwarf frogs together with tropical fish?

Yes, but with some reservations. If you do not have any experience of maintaining aquariums it would be wiser to keep either fishes or ADCFs until you gain some knowledge and experience. You can find detailed information under African Dwarf Frogs .

Can I keep pipids alone in a tank or should I keep a couple of them?

You can keep a solitary frog because they are not "social" animals. However, a group of them will be more interesting to watch especially if you are keeping ADCFs or small Pipa species in a community tank with fish. Otherwise, it's unlikely that you will see a solitary ADCF very often.

Can I keep ADCFs together with newts?

Most of the newt species in the trade have to be kept at a relatively low temperature of about 20C/68F. Unfortunately, in pet stores, they often are kept at higher temperatures. There are some species that like higher temperatures, e.g .Tylototriton verrucosus or Cynops ensicauda popei. However, you have to be maintenanceful about the effects of skin secretions from the newts, which can be toxic. I don't know anyone who keeps ADCFs and newts together. If you have any experience of this combination please send me Martin Truckenbrodt an email.

Can I keep Surinam toads Pipa spp. together with tropical fish?

Can I keep African Dwarf Clawed Frogs together with African clawed frogs?

It might be possible to keep ADCFs (Hymenochirus) together with small ACF species (Xenopus and especially Silurana). They would have to be about the same size: e.g. it might be possible to keep Silurana tropicalis together with ADCFs but I don't have any experience. If you have any experience of this combination please send me Martin Truckenbrodt an email.
