tank setup

Do Pipids need a land area in the tank?

No, in captivity they are 100 percent aquatic. In the wild they leave the water only if the pond is drying up or if they can't find enough food in their home pond.

Can I keep Pipids in an aquaterrarium or in a paludarium?

You can keep African Dwarf Clawed Frogs, African Clawed Frogs and small Pipa species in an aquaterrarium or in a paludarium. For large Pipa species though, the volume of water will be too small. You have to be maintenanceful that the Pipids don't eat any other animals that may be present.

I am a beginner in aquatics and I want to keep Pipids. What do I need?

You need a tank with cover, a heater, a filter, gravel, some living plants and water conditioner (only if the filter media is new). You can use natural daylight if you use only glass as a cover. You can find detailed information about filters under miscellaneous (still under construction).
